Greenvolt secures €348 million loan for Romanian wind farm
Lalomita, with 253.1MW capacity, set for commercial operations in 2027
Michael Marray   4 Mar 2026

Greenvolt Power has signed a €348 million ( US$406 million ) financing package for the construction of the 253.1-megawatt Lalomita Wind Project in Romania.

The debt was provided by UniCredit Bank, Erste Group Bank, Raiffeisen Bank, Société Générale, Romanian bank BRD, and Siemens Bank.

The project, located southeast of the country, is one of Romania’s largest private renewable energy developments in progress.

With a signed sale agreement with Engie Romania completed at the end of 2025, Greenvolt Power remains responsible for its construction and commissioning until it achieves commercial operation date in 2027, at which point the transaction will be completed.

“A project of this scale and characteristics naturally requires significant capital and a strong financial structure, which we have once again secured from leading financial institutions,” says João Manso Neto, chief executive officer of Greenvolt Group. “Their support clearly reflects confidence in our execution capabilities and in our ability to deliver.”

The Lalomita wind farm is part of the broader 506-megawatt Wind Rose platform, one of the country’s most significant private renewable energy initiatives currently in progress.

In Romania, Greenvolt Group holds a utility‑scale pipeline comprising 555MW of wind, 77MW of solar, and 156MW of battery energy storage projects. The company is also active in the distributed generation segment, providing on‑site renewable energy solutions for corporate and industrial clients.
